King’s Landing – Croatia

In May of 2017 – 5 hardworking friends packed up their bags and headed to the Dalmatia coast for some much needed bounding time and R&R.

Black Water Bay

As most of us are hardcore Game of Thrones fans, naturally we started the journey in Dubrovnik so that we could walk through the busy old city streets as Cersei Lanister did, minus being stripped naked.

Old city castle quarters

We spent the first day in Old town, a mere 15 min walk from our spacious Airbnb that comfortable slept all 5 of us. Luckily there was also a grocery store right next door. I of course volunteered to supply the crew with daily breakfast – sunny side up eggs, toast, green beans, sugar free yogurt and coffee. We did all the obligatory old town activities – going up the tram, walk the wall, check out the fort. Gelato stands were common place, and we couldn’t help ourselves with daily helpings of frozen snack.

On Lokrum Island

The second day we took a boat to Lokrum island – the island of love. Not only was there breathtaking views of Dubrovnik at the end of the hike, we found a secret Game of Thrones exhibit complete with the iron throne.

Inside Diocletian’s Palace

With a short 1 day stop in Hver, we got to Split on the 4th day – staying in an Airbnb inside Diocletian’s Palace. It’s amazing how these aged stones have been incorporated in the modern living – as someone’s apartment, restaurant, bar. It’s a beautiful fusion and prime example how the old and new can exist in harmony.

Bathtub or coffin?

We roamed around the castle, exploring whatever remnants where were left behind from Diocletian’s era. Was this a bathtub or a coffin?

Favourite moment: End of the hike on Lokrum Island.

Favourite Restaurant: don’t get your hopes up. Food was pretty average.
