A childhood favourite – savoury steamed egg custard

We got a new family member – a shiba inu puppy named Hanzo. Needless to say, this little guy has taken up a lot of our time and as a result, I haven’t been cooking as much, or at least not as adventurously.

  • Cumin sweet potato chips

    Cumin sweet potato chips

This can’t be called a recipe. It’s too easy. After returning from Hawaii, I’m putting myself on a whole plant based only detox for the remainder of my vacation to counteract the health effects of massive amount of poke, ribs and chocolate.

  • Beast bait

    Beast bait

I love making myself breakfast everyday, but not everyone has that luxury or sees it as a priority. The rise in the popularity of energy bites/balls caters to that need.

  • Whole wheat chia seeds no knead bread

Whole wheat chia seeds no knead bread

No knead bread is all the rage right now. It’s arguably a great way to create rustic artisan loafs with minimal effort. I didn’t find it all that straight forward however. Despite eating these for a straight month with almost one loaf baked a week, i’m still struggling with consistency.

  • Cumin carrot salad

    Cumin carrot salad

I haven’t posted anything for a month. Life has been rough. 1/4 calls for 2 months straight coming up, will aim to make something once a week.

    Miso caramel popcorn

I’ve been in a rut… my diet has consisted of avocado banana smoothie for breakfast, tofu salad for lunch and popcorn…lots of popcorn for dinner and weekend meals…every-single-day (with the exception of going out to all the new foodie places to eat of course). So I might as well embrace my popcorn rut and share…

  • Grilled sweetbreads

    Grilled sweetbreads

Yet another restaurant favourites of mine! I love the soft and creamy texture of sweetbreads, which is lamb or veal thymus glands. Eateries often serve this delicacy breaded and fried. So on a sunny Saturday morning, I set out to St.Lawrence Market to try out cooking this thing myself.

  • charred grilled octopus two ways

    charred grilled octopus two ways

The grilling posibility continues with one of my restaurant must-haves that turned out to be extremely easy to make! One of everyone’s favorite dishes from Bar Isabal is the grilled whole octopus, who knew? It’s not that difficult to DIY at home!

  • grilled chicken hearts

    grilled chicken hearts

I’m obsessed with a 11 dollar aluminum casted grill pan from Amazon. It’s light, heats up fast and leaves lovely grill marks. Ok now I’m starting to sound like an ad. But it is this pan that made grilling tiny chicken hearts on a skewer possible.

  • avocado toast – 10 min breakfast

avocado toast – 10 min breakfast

I have this for breakfast almost everyday. It’s the perfect balance of protein, healthy fat and slow digesting carbohydrate to fuel me through busy mornings. And it’s fast once you get the logistics down to achieve maximum efficiency – takes me less than 10 min to make and 2 min to devour its full glory.
